The earliest record of production at Glenturret is in 1763 which gives them confidence to state that The Glenturret is Scotland’s Oldest Working Distillery. Having been visited through the centuries by writers and poets (including Robert Burns) Feted by Primes Ministers and Royalty and home to a long honour roll of skilled distillers, The Glenturret Distillery has long stood proud at the heart of Scotch Whisky.

Tasting Notes

From the distillery: Rich fruit cake dressed with walnuts. Sweet apple and ginger in balance enjoyed with lemon tea. The European oak politely drives the chosen strength.

Method

Small batch, manual production processes which define Glenturret. Aged in American oak hogsheads and European oak casks, non chill filtered and bottled at 46%.

Our Thoughts

Nose: This smells like when a bottle of red wine has broken inside the crate that it’s been shipped in and the wine seeps into the wood; to be way less specific I suppose I could describe it by saying it has red fruit and wet wood on the nose. Rich caramel, brown sugar and then a stroke of green apple shines through.
Palate: Full but not dessert like; round mouthfeel with dark chocolate and a sooty kind of smoke.
Finish: Pomegranate and smoke on the finish, and a peanut like grittiness.
