Tasting Notes
BalancedMaltySmooth
After years in the restaurant industry, Dan Tanner started to shift his focus to wine, and while enrolled in sommelier classes, he began to take interest in beer. Fast forward – after a few years of slow growth from his garage, to farmers markets, to recently, a taproom in Chester, Dan has certainly taken the time to do things right. His beers are always a joy to drink, when you can find them. Bishops Cellar is very happy to finally be able to showcase Tanner Brews to even more folks around the province!
Tasting Notes
Expect a pleasant range of amber malt aromas and flavours – from toasted bread, to light toffee notes, and biscuit-y aromas that are perfectly balanced by subtle German hops that also lend spicy floral notes. The palate would probably feel a little heavy, but thanks to a long cold lagering process this beer is actually very light on its feet and ultra easy to drink. Also not to mention the wide array of foods this type of beer will pair with.
Method
If you’re a fan of a Vienna Lager or German Marzen, then give the less-common Festbier a try! usually brewed in the Fall for Oktoberfest time, this amber lager is typically a little less malty and rich than it’s bigger siblings, but it still packs a decent punch with an elevated alcohol range.
Brewed with a focus on depth of malt flavour provided by German Vienna, Munich, Melanoidin & Pilsner malts, with a light hopping for balanced bitterness.
