2 Crows Brewing Co. is the brainchild of husband and wife duo Mark and Kelly Huizink and brewer Jeremy Taylor. They brew modern beers with care and focus on quality. Their aim is to get people thinking about craftsmanship, where their beer is coming from and the various characteristics that make beer great.
Tasting Notes
Dry Stouts have the addition of roasted barley, which lends dark and roasty aromas and flavours of espresso, dark chocolate, licorice, and subtle dried fruit character. The palate is surprisingly light bodied but full of roasty dark flavour, that leads to a dry finish with moderate to low carbonation.
Method
Classic Dry Stout is now brewed with 100% Atlantic Canadian-grown ingredients, joining AC Light Lager and Terra Pale Ale in the all-local line up from 2 Crows!
This beer has Golding hops from New Brunswick, and malt grown and malted on PEI. Jeremy at 2 Crows took it step further and did a bunch of in-house roasting of malt to get the dark roasty character he was looking for in this beer — it was a labour of love, but well worth the results.
Our Thoughts
If you’re looking for a Guinness but want to change it up a bit, grab this; dark and roasted malt flavours combined with the creaminess you get from the nitrogen used gives you that classic, Guinness-feel. This stout is wonderful and a must try for you and/or the stout lover in your life.
It’s worth noting that all the ingredients used here are locally grown in the Maritimes which is a great added bonus.
