Kathryn Harding

Director of Customer Experience, Sommelier

When you step into our retail store, there is a pretty good chance you’ll find Kathryn creating amazing wine experiences for our Bishop’s Cellar customers. As retail manager, her day-to-day work includes providing wine education, developing pairings, planning for the store’s future, and planning upcoming wine tastings.

Kathryn became interested in wine while she was working in the restaurant and bar industry during university. After a trip to Australia and exploring more wines abroad, she decided to enroll in the sommelier program. With more than 10 years at Bishop’s Cellar, Kathryn loves that she’s still meeting new people and constantly learning new things about wine.

Beyond the store, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her friends and family while pursuing her second passion of staying fit and healthy.

Certifications: Kathryn is a CAPS-certified sommelier and holds her WSET Level 3 award.

Kathryn Harding's Picks

End of Summer Picks

The late vigneron Marcel Lapierre was a member of the Gang of Four, a group of Beaujolais producers who arguably started the natural wine movement. From the cru Morgon, this is one of my absolute favourite wines. Made from 70-year-old vines, it’s plush and velvety, and every sip is even better than the one before. Aromas of red fruit, spice, and floral notes jump from the glass; it drinks like a Burgundian Pinot Noir with more forward-fruit and softer tannins. Serve this wine at cellar temperature of 13-15F, it will seem a bit cold to our North American palates but this is the correct cellar or serving temperature for light reds. This is the perfect wine for the best month in Nova Scotia: September!
