Principato, meaning Princely Realm or principality, refers to northeastern Italy’s regal past.   Principato is one of Italy’s most popular and affordable wines.  The brand was introduced in 1978 and has become a beloved value wine offering locally and abroad.  

Tasting Notes

Garnet with a purple hue.  Primary fruit aromas of black cherry and a medley of field berries.  The palate is light to medium bodied with red berry flavors, soft tannins and lively acidity.  Enjoy with turkey, pork tenderloin or baked salmon. 

Method

The grapes are picked at peak maturity and undergo fermentation for 6-8 days under controlled temperatures in small stainless steel vats. The wine then is placed in larger oak barrels, where it rests on its lees until malolactic fermentation has occurred. The wine is refined in tank before bottling and release.
