Quails’ Gate has been owned and operated by the Stewart family since 1956. Located in the Okanagan Valley it boasts 160 acres of incredible soil below the extinct volcano of Mount Boucherie. Its deposits work like a time release capsule. Combined with warm summers and mild winters, the volcanic rocks have decomposed and recombined into soluble molecules that are easily separated into their elements and accessible to plants – including vineyards. The result is some of the richest agricultural land on the planet.
Tasting Notes
This is a dry style rosé. The 2021 vintage is fresh and fruit-forward, with enough balance and depth to intrigue a the most discerning rosé lover. Fresh fruit aromas of watermelon, raspberry, guava and passionfruit. On the palate, this wine is light, fruity and satisfying from the approachable entry to the refreshing, crisp finish. Pair with fresh, seasonal, high-quality ingredients prepared simply: pizza, Caprese salad, melon and prosciutto or summer greens and salads.
Method
A blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir grapes. After harvest, the grapes received four hours of skin contact for colour and flavour before being pressed off. Each varietal was fermented separately in stainless steel at cool temperatures before being expertly blended by the winemaking team.
