Soju is a very popular spirit sold in Korea that is traditionally made by distilling rice and other cereal grains. However, since the 1960s to alleviate rice shortages, most soju has been produced by diluting high strength neutral alcohol from distilled sweet potatoes or tapioca.
Jinro is the top selling spirit company in the world after exploding in popularity with their chamisul brand of soju in the 1990s. Jinro soju is so popular that its name is synonymous with the product itself much like Kleenex brand is to tissue.
Tasting Notes
Jinro 24 is a zesty and smooth alternative to vodka with a subtle grassiness on the nose that is excellent sipped on its own or in a variety of cocktails.
Method
Jinro 24 is made by distilling a combination of agricultural grains and sweet potatoes prior to being filtered using a unique bamboo charcoal filtering system and diluted to 24% alcohol by volume.
